freshman information

Congratulations on getting into dental school here at UAB!  Many of you are coming from all over the state (and the country) – so, the members of Alpha Omega have put together this page full of helpful information specifically geared for your move to Birmingham and your transition to dental school.

housing information

The dental school has two relocation agencies that can help you find an apartment near the dental school. You can contact these agencies and they will put together a small tour of buildings for you to look at. They are Apartment Consultants and Kirk Pownall - both links are to the right. Although these agencies provide an easy option for finding an apartment, they will show you a limited number of apartments that they represent.

Alpha Omega members have put together a guide for finding an apartment in Birmingham based on location, amenities, price, and quality of living. This was put together in 2007 specifically for incoming dental students.

So click here to access the UAB AO Student's Residential Area Guide. Here to access Student Testimonials. Here to access Student's Featured Properties.

Also, take a look at the Loft Guide to see some of the really urban sleek downtown lofts. These are close to dental school, really neat, and developing fast but a little more pricey. Also, Craigslist lists apartments similar to newspaper ads.

scrubs information

Here's a message based on information from 2007: The scrub colorcor the class of 2012 will be Misty.  I have not heard any complaints from faculty or administrators about different styles, so I think as long as they are the same color, there's no problem.  Tall guys (or gals) should consider extra long to be sure they can tuck the top into the pant.  I would also like to let them know that there is no need to get them before they start, just something they can do as they anticipate starting.

roommate information

If you are looking for a roommate to share an apartment or house you already have rented, email alphaomega@gmail.com and we'll post your info on this site.
