what did you sell and how much did you sell it for?
We sold advertisement to local apartments that we distributed to incoming dental students through our website and orientation packets. We charged $100 per apartment complex.

where did you get your product from and where did you research it?
We offered the fundraiser in 2 parts. The first was advertisement space on our website which can be seen at http://students.ao.org/uab/housing.html. The second part was information about their apartments in a freshman orientation packet. So the best way to run this program is to have one of two things, a website or an orientation packet. Here's some info about both.
Website - if you don't have a website - contact Nate Lawson nlawson@uab.edu. If so, you can have a page which lists the apartment complex name, some pictures, price, and contact info.
Orientation packet - you can ask your admissions office for the address of the incoming freshman. you can make a packet with any of the following:
- map of the area
- gift certificate donated from local restaurant/coffee place
- info about scrubs
- info about different residential areas
- tips from upperclassmen
- info about AO
- info about the apartment complexes
how did you advertise your product/event and how did you sell it?
We picked out some apartment complexes which were popular with dental school students or close to the school. We looked up their number and called the leasing office.
how did the fundraiser go and how much did you make?
We made about $600.
Suggestions for other chapters
- we tried to only select apartments that we thought dental students would want to live in
- make a sample advertisement to show or email the leasing office and also make a sample invoice
