The NYU chapter was selected as the May chapter of the month in honor of recieving an NYU President's Service Award in April 2007. The group was given this honor for reactiving the Alpha Omega chapter at NYU, "a fraternity known for promoting equality and fostering charity in dental school." The NYU chapter was recently reactivated with the help of president Steve Dazivowitz.

The award was given by President of NYU John Sexton at the 2007 President's Service Awards on Tuesday, April 17, 2007.

At the event president John Sexton said a few words about Alpha Omega Iota Chapter:

"I would like to present the next award to Alpha Omega Iota Chapter for their distinguished service and contribution to the University and community. This year Alpha Omega has re-organized and revitalized a defunct student fraternity through student outreach and educational programs."
